It is generally busy but not "jammed" They have a 3 choices for good food as well. It is always a fun time at the "ponies" or Casino.

Our group enjoyed a night out at Woodbine's Club Dining Room to watch and place bets on trotters.

For those of you looking to watch Thoroughbred horse racing without the cart , Woodbine does offer it but the season doesn't start until April.

The Club dining room is located on the 4th floor, with a beautiful view overlooking the track and quick access to an outdoor balcony for those of you willing to brave the cold and stand outside to take in the race.

There are TVs everywhere, including at each table, with live feeds of the action happening down on the track. Our group had made reservations a week in advance and our table was perfect - literally right beside the buffet and on the top tier for seating with a clear, unobstructed view of everything.

When we arrived, we were directed by attendants on the ground floor on what elevator to take up to get to the VIP club.

At our table were several programs listing every race with all the necessary information and odds on every horse running.

For those who have never been to the races before, attendants are more than happy to give a quick tutorial on how to bet.

It had been years since I had come to the racetrack and needed a refresher on how and what to do. Our group arrived an hour before the races started and there never seemed to be a ton of people.

None of us had an issue with the buffet line or with placing our bets and it was not overcrowded in the least. If you don't like crowds and prefer a more intimate setting where you can actually have conversations with people in your party, this is definitely the option for you.

There are not throngs of people, milling around and clamouring to get a view of the race track. Its not like the movies where you see degenerate gamblers, with a half-smoked, dirty cigar hanging out of their mouth, dark circles under their eyes, wearing a polyester leisure suit, spending the last of their pension cheques.

Where the club lounge is seems very upscale and fancy with mahogany wood and trophies and banners celebrating the sport of horse racing.

In fact, midway through the races, a couple of the guys went exploring and found the Club Lounge, which was literally right beside the dining area, and it was absolutely deserted!
